It’s been several months since the last time I posted some updates in this blog.
Just in case, this is your first time visiting this blog. Welcome to Wiki School Pedia, the sharing home of wedding storytellers. My name is Wiki Lee.
But I really hope this could be my last excuse of making this blog silent. I know I have committed to myself that I will spend much more time for this Wiki School Pedia project in 2012 (as stated in my personal blog). We need you to support us here!
Anyway, this August is the time that most of Asian wedding photographers and I had been waiting for. The workshop + seminar features one reputable and stellar photographer from US who will be revealed in this near future. Not only that, this event also features our best local crop (Asian) wedding photographers to share/inspire/teach you to be a better photographer.
It’ll be our first international wedding photography workshop. We have 4 superstars ready to share and inspire the South East Asian photographers. Please make sure to SAVE THE DATE 13-15 August 2012 in Bali, Indonesia. This time, it will take place in Bali, Indonesia.
The first speaker to be revealed is Oly Ruiz of Metro Photo. One of the trendiest and yet one of the most humble photographers I ever met. He is from the Philippines.
He has done several workshops around the world (New York, London, San Francisco and even to Kuwait – under the project name HotHouse). Without no doubt, he is one of the best Asian wedding photographers + educators I ever met. I learned a great deal of listening about his ‘Branding’ concept.
As soon as I heard his teaching, I told myself that he is a must-have teacher to join to our educator line up for this International wedding photography workshop.
Please spend more time to visit his blog to see his latest works.
Without further ado, here is the man, Mr Oly Ruiz.

Check out his proud works
So please watch out 3 more upcoming blog entries featuring the other 3 photographers who join Oly Ruiz in our educator line up for this event.
NB: the other news my team from the BIG films is busy to document the workshop of our friends and the super-uber gorgeous Jenny Sun in Sydney, Australia. She is kind enough to allow some of the footages out for shares when the time comes. Come back again to this blog, it’ll be more awesomeness to come.
Last Friday, we completed our 4-days event with a super high success note. The reception was unexpectedly encouraging. We were so pleased that Indonesian photographers and videographers welcomed WSP vision and mission with very excited. I will blog them separately how the day 4 went.
In the mean time, I blog an urgent news. We will host a wedding photography workshop in Surabaya, East Java. The speakers from the upcoming workshop will be our educators, Tito Rikardo and Sigit Prasetio from THEUPPERMOST. We always had plans to share the knowledge to more places in Indonesia but so far we only had them in Jakarta. But when one of our past workshop attendees assured us that there was quite a demand in Surabaya, we love to participate.
In this workshop, Tito and Sigit will be speaking more into their technical technique and knowledge. Of course, they are more than happy to welcome the idea of providing some valuable feedback to the participants’ works.
There you go! Surabaya, here we come. The event will be in next week (29 July). Please see our flyer for more details.

Please send your registration request to workshop@wikischoolpedia.com ASAP especially for people who are interested with our early bird offer. Dont miss it!
We finally announced the long awaiting gathering event for Indonesian photographers and videographers. This is the first time for Indonesian videographers. And this is the second time for Indonesian wedding photographers. Back in last year, we only did it in 2 hours format with 4 speakers from two companies. Now, we try to change the format to serve for more variety in the topics and different point of views with a longer period format. Just check out the speakers who are willing to share their thoughts and experiences in this event. We even managed to encourage one of the successful Indonesian wedding photographers in US, Oscar Setiawan from S1 Photography to participate in this event via Live conference. It’s something not to miss for Indonesian wedding professionals.
Check out here for more details. If you are interested and you haven’t been part of Indonesian WSP group, please join here.
It’s definitely an interesting and quite a tiring experience for me to arrange such an event like this. It’s never been easy to try to steal them [the speakers] away from their busy schedule to share their experiences. So I am calling out to most of Indonesian wedding professionals to participate if you wish to see this event to be run annually. Tell your friends and your wedding professionals. Help us to spread the words, help the industry!
Btw, have you seen our little new logo?
Hello world. I am back to blog now.
I hope nobody misses us too much during our absent. It was a fantastic year at our first year in 2010. I started something that I have been dreaming of for a whole of my life, to inspire others to share and to learn. Because of that I personally felt 2010 was my best year because I learnt a lot from teaching and also met so many people who are so passionate in photography not just doing for money (of course I also met some who are
).
From last year, it made me to consider that I needed to take a little break from my wedding projects in 2011 so I could spend more time in this project. That’s why I made the commitment to enter my sabbatical period for not shooting in 3 months (April-July). Well, of course the habit was definitely difficult to break. So in the first one and a half month on my sabbatical period when I supposed not to take any job, I was still shooting portrait films and portrait sessions (phew only one wedding). Well, that’s why I made myself clear that I wanted to get away. Here I am now. I am in Jakarta, Indonesia again (Yes, I am also still scheduled to shoot.
). And soon I’ll be in Singapore to attend Mayad Academy, who I admire their cinematography talents. Before flying to Singapore, I’ll stop by in Kuala Lumpur to hang out with the Malaysians
This Asian trip was a bit unplanned honestly. My initial plan was to try to organise everything via web. But I knew that if I happen to make WSP’s vision accepted among fellow Asian wedding artists, I need to try to understand every Asian country’s needs. If that’s the case, That’s why I am so excited that I am finally scheduled to meet up some talented people in Singapore especially talented dudes from WPN, Malaysians and not to forget, my home country Indonesia.
Talking about Indonesia, I’ve accomplished one of WSP’s goals in 2011 that is to start a web forum exclusively for Indonesian wedding photographers and videographers. Any pro Indonesian photographers or videographers who wish to join, please free to visit here. I am so pleased to know not long after that, my friends pioneered the first wedding photography association, Indonesian WPG. That proves how much hunger they are to compete at the world stage. I hope I’ll get the chance to interview some of my friends from Indonesian WPG. I have the meeting tomorrow with some of them. I am so excited to share the result of the meeting
yayyyy..
I know when I started the wedding artist forum in Indonesia is never about quantity but more about quality. But I am so pleased that 300+ (after only 2 months) gathered to exchange and to network everyday now in this forum. My personal opinion after learning from this group is that some of their wedding photographers definitely have rooms to grow/improve especially mentally. They are bunch of very creative people. Their enemy is themselves. Sometimes, they are too creative to forget the term “Photographers must be recognised by their works”. But they rather taking to learn shortcut. I heard that most of their problems are from the customers wanting too much. I saw a lot of photographers confessed that they were inspired by some good photographers, but their results are not reflecting to what they believe. They are more business driven. I have no doubt that the customers need to be educated. But I believe the customers only look for what’s on the market. If what’s on the market provide healthy and good wedding arts, then the customer will learn to follow tooIf what’s on the market provide healthy and good wedding arts, then the customer will learn to follow too
I hope 2011 will be better and improvement of what we achieved from 2010. I am really excited to see the future online school for photographers and videographers (Yes, I started to think I want to explore the potential of that WSP can be a good institution for wedding videographers to share too).
I promise I’ll update more often starting today. That’s another goal that I set for 2011. I’ll share my thought and the journey of what I wish to achieve in this tiny project.
If you have any questions of WSP, please do not hesitate to email me to wiki [@] wikischoolpedia.com
Btw, I started to call this thing WSP instead of Wiki School Pedia, I tell you later why I decided to prefer to call it WSP
Also, do you realise this new blog look much cleaner and simpler
Bye for now
